Finding your frames…
Semi-rimless glasses have a rim along the top of the lens and a thin cord or open edge underneath. They keep the light, open feel of rimless frames while giving the face a defined brow line. The style is a long-standing favourite for office wear and suits most face shapes, especially round and oval faces. Compare the measurements with a pair you already wear before choosing your lenses.

The upper rim follows the brow and adds structure; the open lower edge keeps the frame from looking heavy. Lenses are held by a fine nylon cord set into a groove, so the lens needs enough thickness at the edge to hold it. That makes semi-rimless frames suitable for most prescriptions. If the cord loosens over time, an optician can replace it. Rest the glasses lens-up and clean them gently to keep the cord secure.
Rectangle and oval outlines are the most common, and both suit progressive lenses when the lens height allows.
